Kliemt-Post August 2026
Our dear friends,
in the middle of our vacation, we'd like to give you another glimpse into what's currently on our minds. We are deeply grateful for your dedication to us and to the people to whom we are privileged to share some of God's love.
I recently reflected on Psalm 45. This psalm describes the Messiah-King. It blends the two dimensions of an earthly king and a heavenly king. Verses 11 and 12 of this psalm prompted my reflection: "Listen, daughter! Consider and incline your ear! Forget your people and your father's house! If the king desires your beauty—he is your lord—submit to him!" From an earthly perspective, I picture a king and his bride in the ancient Near East, letting go of one's parents' home and being wedded to the magnificent king. But spiritually, I think of the bride, the church of Jesus. Jesus desires a beautiful church; he is the Lord of the church. And we are called: you children of God, submit to him and his guidance. Yes, I want to please him, to live in a way that pleases God, and to make my life completely available to him. May the Lord grant me and us his grace for this!
Samuel is moving to Germany
What effects us emotionally right now is that Samuel, who is almost 18, wants to return to Germany to repeat the 10th grade of secondary school and prepare for his intermediate school exams. He will be moving to Siegen/Germany to live in a Christian men's shared apartment. We prayed for this decision, and Jesus has given us peace. But it won't be easy for him or for us to be 7,000 km apart as the crow flies, not being able to be there when he turns 18 or celebrates his graduation next year.
Prayer requests: Pray especially for Samuel in the coming weeks and months, that he may experience Jesus deeply as his closest friend and father, who protects, guides, and strengthens him, and that he may mature into a man after God's own heart.

Holiday with lovely friends from Germany
We were able to take another vacation together and had our friends Sandy, Andreas, and their son Johannes as our guests. We visited some beautiful places around Mbeya with them, went to the national park, and to Zanzibar. We were very happy to have this opportunity to show some of the beauty of this country to people who pray with us and for us, and who support us, to practice our Saxon dialect again, and simply to relax a little after the services of the past few months.
Farewell and new tutors
We had to say goodbye to Lea in May and now, at the end of July, to Samuel, our tutors. The farewell was especially difficult for Elia, who had the privilege of spending a whole year with Samuel – tutor Samuel had even come to Germany with us. Damaris had worked hard over the past few months to ensure that Rebekka also completed her school year and that we could all now enjoy a well-deserved break.
Tutor wanted
In September, Titus will be joining us as a tutor for Elias for the new school year. It would be wonderful for Rebekka if we had another tutor. Damaris could then help out even more in the office. If you pray that Jesus calls someone to help us, and perhaps forward this short video to anyone who might be interested, we would be incredibly grateful! The 2-minute video also gives you a glimpse into our everyday life.

Pastoral care and trauma healing
The last few months have been marked by three major projects. Firstly, we have conducted several workshops to train leaders in the field of pastoral care and trauma healing.
Several follow-up meetings took place, or we accepted invitations from participants to their communities and groups. Several trauma healing groups were formed. We also started a trauma healing group and an addiction recovery group in our own community. Participation was low, but the smaller group was all the more intense for it.
On the road with the Sangu
The second major undertaking involved meetings with the Sangu. In 2024, we completed the Joseph Project, which had generated many contacts and reached people in small groups. Now, we had called six young and spiritually motivated men to training sessions, organized a motorcycle license course for them in July, and will continue their training in early September to prepare them for spreading the Gospel.
They will travel to the villages with two motorcycles donated from Germany and video projectors during the remaining months until the rainy season in December to visit communities, sell Bibles, show the Jesus film and Joseph film (based on the self-developed play) and encourage the leaders of the Bible discussion groups.
Prayer requests: Pray for these six young men, that Jesus will prepare them spiritually for this ministry and that they will be given God's strength and missionary zeal, so that many people will accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior.
Off to the Ndali. Here in Malawi in May with our family.
The Ndali addiction support program
Another major project is the Ndali addiction support program, for which I have traveled three times in the last few months.
Here's a brief summary of how it all began: In 2021, Mwasandube and I worked with a team of Ndali Bible translators and Christians to identify the cultural challenges the Ndali people most needed help with from the Bible. This led to the launch of an addiction support project for the Ndali people in Tanzania and Malawi in 2022. Following several composition workshops, where songs were created based on biblical verses from the addiction support program, as well as pastor seminars and leadership training, the addiction support groups were established at the end of 2025.
The program thrives on weekly group meetings. For more than a year, participants read and listen to biblical texts in their own language, sing newly composed songs, answer questions about the biblical text, and apply what they have learned to their lives. All program materials have been fully translated into the Ndali language and are available in both written and audio formats.
I am truly impressed by the Ndali people's dedication to this work. Between the end of 2025 and April 2026, more than 40 groups were established throughout the Ndali territory. More than 90 trained group leaders are helping 450 participants grow spiritually and become free from their addictions.
Stories from the program
Hope is returning to families and communities. One woman, whose husband attends such a group, thanked the group leader for his dedication: "I see money in the house again." An older participant expressed her gratitude for the audio Bible. She wished such resources had been available years earlier so that people could have grown in their faith much sooner. This also demonstrates how important it is for people to be able to hear the Bible in their own language in order to grow spiritually.
When our team was stranded in a village due to a serious car breakdown, we had more than a day to build a relationship with the owner of a small roadside restaurant. There, we showed her the half-hour film about hypocrisy and alcohol abuse in her language, which we had produced the previous year, and gave her an audio player with songs, the addiction support program, and the Ndali Bible on it. She immediately told everyone to be quiet: she wanted to hear everything clearly. Later, she took the audio player to her church choir and played some songs. The other singers immediately joined in. What a blessing God made out of that mishap!
One of the most gratifying effects is the spread of these songs throughout the Ndali region. They are joyfully sung in addiction support groups and by choirs alike, helping God's word to take deep root in people's memories, shaping their worship and influencing their daily lives.
In July, I traveled to Malawi again, and also to two villages in Tanzania, to teach the group leaders more about addictions and how they can be overcome both physically and mentally. When I returned to the small roadside restaurant, the Ndali songs from our program were playing at full volume.
Addiction support in Mbeya
After we had advertised for an addiction support group in our town of Mbeya, both on the streets and in the pubs, we initially hoped it would be a successful initiative, but the number of participants has dwindled significantly. With tattered clothes and little money, going to church seems to be a difficult prospect for some.
We would like to make another attempt soon and start a group in a particularly affected area of our city. Many people there depend on alcohol for their livelihood, either by consuming it or producing it.
Prayer requests: Please pray for this work, that people may be freed from their addictions and experience, both physically and spiritually, the strength and hope that Jesus Christ gives.
Thanks and finances
We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for everything you give and for everything you make possible here in our country! We would like to inform you that, unfortunately, for the first time since 2016, our donations are in the red, and we need further assistance to carry out the projects to which we feel called here. We especially ask for your prayers that the Lord will provide for us and continually help us to see what is truly needed.
Be blessed in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, have courage for the tasks the Lord gives you, and be filled with the love, joy, and peace of God!
All our love, Daniel and Damaris with Samuel, Rebekka and Elia
